The Epic Games’ `Infinity Blade’ title - for the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad - for which the studio intends releasing free content next week, boasts the famed Unreal Engine 3, which has thus far largely been restricted to powerful computer and console games.
The `Infinity Blade’ action role-playing game essentially features a knight who needs to scale a huge castle and dethrone the authoritative God King. Almost the entire gameplay of Infinity Blade comprises the players’ face-off with the Titans of the God King, before they finally bring down the powerful ruler and free the people from his wicked rule.
Infinity Blade title has fairly simple controls, with very few buttons on the screen - two buttons each at the top and bottom corners can respectively be used for calling forth special powers and dodging enemy attacks.
A shield at the bottom of the screen can be pressed and held to block an attack; and a swipe on the screen facilitates an attack, with the players’ on-screen character slicing his sword in the direction of the swipe. As such, to attack the enemy, players can either swipe on the screen or use their magic powers, which get recharged during the fight.
Though the players’ movements in Infinity Blade are quite restricted, their weapons get powered up as more enemies are defeated. The wins also fetch cash with which new weapons, shields and magic rings can be bought.
