Ho ho ho!: Untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak by Christmas, says iPhone Dev-Team

The iPhone Dev-Team guru known as MuscleNerd has given the world of iOS jailbreakers a huge gift: confirmation that an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 is coming, and by Christmas, no less!

The confirmation comes via Twitter, in a response from MuscleNerd to a follower inquiry.

Bear in mind this isn’t an iron-clad promise that it will definitely come — more like a status report that indicates the hack is very do-able and progress is on track for it. In fact, MuscleNerd has deleted his tweet (maybe so he doesn’t get everyone’s hopes up too high?).

There’s no specific devices indicated here, but observers and fans largely expect the new method to be compatible with practically all the iDevices running iOS 4.2.1 (which would be iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS with the newer bootrom and the iPod Touch 4G).
