Official PlayStation App “Coming Soon” For iPhone

OK, so I’m not sure how to even post about this one. After the ad campaign bashing the iPhone as “what you use to talk to your grandma”, Sony is releasing an app for the iPhone for whatever reason.

No, you won’t be playing games. Instead the app will serve as a way to keep track of your PlayStation profile and get the latest PlayStation news.

With the app you’ll be able to do:

Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends’ games and online status.

Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.

Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation Blog.

Share your favorite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

The app will originally be released just for UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. The app will also be released on Android fans. It ‘s just a bit odd, seeing as how neither Sony or Microsoft have let users check their gaming profiles on anything but their consoles.
