Further evidence has been uncovered supporting rumors that the next-generation iPad to be released first quarter 2011 by Apple Inc. will have two cameras, according to Mac Rumors.
A 2nd beta release to developers of the next-generation Apple iOS 4.3, which will be powering the iPad 2, has hinted at a front-facing and a back-facing camera for the iPad 2 based on icons on the mobile operating system’s (OS) user-interface (UI).
According to Mac Rumors, an image within the iOS 4.3 beta 2 release [homeScreenOverlayFaceTime~ipad.png] – which, according to the report, will be used by the OS to preview a user’s theme selection – show that the OS integrates three new icons in the UI.
The icons are a camera icon (which is traditionally used by the iPad’s back camera), a FaceTime icon and a Photobooth icon.
FaceTime is Apple’s app for video conferencing and is used by capable Apple devices with front-facing cameras. Photobooth is the company’s app which allows users to apply filters and different effects for photos.
Mac Rumors, however, said that there is a possibility that a back-facing camera might be omitted from the iPad 2 as a front-facing camera could use all three apps eliminating a need for a back-facing camera
