The long debacle between rumor mongers and Verizon iPhone or iPad 2 may or may not finally come to a close at CES 2010 this Thursday. While all rumors point out to an announcement this week, BussinessWeek is reporting Apple is planning to do it next week!

“Apple’s introduction of an iPhone for use on Verizon’s network will come sometime after the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January, according to a person familiar with Apple’s plans who is not authorized to discuss them publicly.”
As Macrumors points out, Apple usually announces first half of the year products during January. Last year, Apple unveiled the iPad 2 around this time of the month. The rumors are actually fueled by some morning press event by the Verizon people:
To be clear, however, Verizon’s afternoon news conference has been known as an Android event. It was the Verizon CEO keynote speech scheduled on the morning of Thursday, January 6th that has been seen as a possible announcement venue.
Regardless of where Apple and Verizon announce their new products, I really don’t care as long as they do it ASAP. The rumors are getting out of hand. While this is probably Apple’s worst kept secret now, I’d still like an official confirmation… and soon.
I’m taking bets. CES announcement or not?
