What to expect from the iPhone 5

The latest-generation iPhone from Apple is due to be released in July 2011. As usual, Apple is tight-lipped about product features, but rumors abound. Industry experts all seem to agree on a few “must-haves” for the iPhone 5.

The latest iPod Touch stores up to 64Gb of data. The iPhone has had a maximum capacity of 32Gb since 2009. It seems likely that an upgraded iPhone would include a capacity that matches or exceeds its musical cousin.

Processor speed also seems to be a hot-button topic. The new A5 processor may be multi-core, significantly boosting its performance.

Verizon is already operating, and AT&T is upgrading to, a 4G LTE network. Expect the iPhone’s data connection speeds to rival your home broadband.

None of this is cast in stone, however. The exact date for the iPhone 5’s release is not set, but expect it to be an unmissable news item.
