Times-Herald unveils iPhone, Ipod app

Need to know about the latest Solano County news?

Worry not — there’s an app for that.

The Times-Herald launched its first mobile phone application Thursday. While the free app is now available only for the iPhone and iPod Touch, the 136-year-old newspaper eventually will roll out apps for the Android and Blackberry platforms as well. The app can be downloaded through the iTunes store.

The app allows users to scroll through the latest Times-Herald stories, divided into a news, editorial / opinions and obituaries. Stories can easily be shared though e-mail, text, Twitter and Facebook. The app also gives weather forecasts and live traffic data.

The Times-Herald has also developed an app for Solano Bride, a speciality site focusing on everything regarding weddings and celebrations in Solano County.

The app joins the Times-Herald’s other new media efforts during the last 14 months, including its Twitter site (www.twitter.com/vjotimesherald), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/timesherald) and multimedia endeavors.
