Apple’s senior vice president Phil Schiller tweeted that the white iPhone “will be available this spring,” adding “and it is a beauty.”

The Cupertino, Calif.-based company has had problems with its translucent back, which reportedly caused photos to look as if they were taken through cellophane, due to the camera flash leaking through to the sensor.
After announcing the iPhone back in June, Apple pushed back the release of the white model to July, then to October, and then until the “spring” of 2011. Apple issued an apologetic statement saying, “white models of the new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected.”
But the new version may come too late, as the company plans to unveil its next-generation iPhone 5 later this June.
