Oh hey Amazon.com you silly you. Apple’s next generation phone, iPhone 5 hasn’t been announced yet. When a reader emailed me this morning saying Amazon already has it, I did some digging around. According to Beatweek, this ad appears on Google searches:

“While there’s always at least one small no-name vendor claiming to have uncovered a next-gen iPhone or iPad component or case in the name of hoping to manufacture publicity, this time it’s bizarrely Amazon.com itself. The massive retailer is running ads on Google which tout the iPhone 5 as not only being on sale, but also mercifully including free shipping.”
Shady shady Amazon.com! Usually iPhone announcements occur during the Summer at Apple’s WWDC. This year though, it’s looking like the iPhone will release in the Fall instead of the usual June/July release.
At the time of this writing, the ad is still up. I’m not sure how long it’ll take Apple to slap Amazon’s hands, but trust me, they’ll act on it eventually.
