Why Does Amazon Have iPhone 5 Ads?

“Buy iPhone 5 at Amazon!” Not.

But that’s exactly what the advertisement says. Just search Google for “iPhone 5″ and you’ll see an ad by Amazon.com.

The ad even claims that “qualified orders over $25 ship free.” The only problem is that no one knows when it will be out. And clicking on the ad just shows users a bunch of iPhone 4s and accessories.

The iPhone 5 News Blog is wondering if Amazon knows something we don’t. Or maybe the company is just shamelessly cashing in the hype, using the “iPhone 5″ keyword as bait.

According to Google’s AdWords tool, there are currently about 1.8 million searches for the phrase “iPhone 5″ every month. A release could still be months away.
