Fox International’s BabyTV is the first major media brand to adopt Apple in-app renewable subscription model, the company says.

The app is meant for toddlers, offering a design and simple menus designed to hold their interest. It’s mean to offer an enjoyable viewing experience with minimal parental involvement.

The app offers both video download and streaming, and lets toddlers watch videos on iOS devices with minimal buffering or interruptions.

BabyTV, if you’re new to it, was founded in 2003 and is commercial-free. It was designed to support parents by providing shows that explore early learning themes with an emphasis on parent-child interaction. It airs in over 90 countries.

The app is free, but the in-app purchase you’ll need to enjoy the shows is $4.99 on the iPad and $3.99 on the iPhone or iPod Touch.
