SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Google announced today that access to its social network Google+ is available through an app for the Ipad.
“The Google Plus app for Ipad was designed with the device in mind. Your stream styles content based on popularity, type and orientation,” Google VP of Product Bradley Horowitz said in a blog post today.
Horowitz said that Google has added “unique ways to interact with the app” such as the ability to pinch and expand posts in the stream to add comments, use two fingers to drag a post from the stream to reshare it and start a “hangout” from the Ipad and stream it to a TV using Airplay.
With the announcement of the new Ipad app, Google also added an update for the Google+ Iphone app, allowing users to create and manage them from the phone.
“Post a comment, upload a photo or check out who’s going,” Horowitz said.
“Your past event invitations are saved with all the photos and posts shared by your friends, so you can relive the party anytime you want.”
Both the update for the Iphone and the new Ipad app give Google+ users the option to start a hangout video chat with up to nine friends.
“Turn on ringing notifications so your friends know to join the hangout,” Google said. “To get started, tap ‘hangout’ from the main menu, add some friends and tap ’start’. We’ll ring their phones (if you want), and if someone misses the hangout, they can ring you back with a single tap.”
The new Google+ Ipad app and Iphone app update are available in Apple’s App Store from today.
