Apple announces recall on select iPhones

Apple announced a recall on the iPhones that are not holding a charge Monday.

According to the company website “a very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently.”

“The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range,” according to a press release from Apple.

If you have one of the effected smartphones “Apple will replace your iPhone 5 battery, free of charge,” according to Apple’s website.

To find your smartphone’s serial number, tap “settings” go to “general” and tap “about.”

You can find out if your phone is eligible for a battery replacement by clicking here and entering your serial number.
