WhatsApp’s big changes leaves Apple iPhone users behind

MESSAGING service WhatsApp has launched desktop, allowing users to chat from their web browsers.

New owners Facebook announced the news that fans of the messaging app could now access their account via the Chrome browser.People can connect by simply heading to the WhatsApp webpage and scanning a QR code using their smartphone, it’ll then give you full access to your messages. All conversations will also automatically sync with your phone, but it’s not accessible for everyone.

Your phone needs to stay connected to the internet for the web client to work, with users needing to be up to date with the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone.

The web based service is currently only available to Android and Windows owners, leaving iPhone and iPad owners having to stick with messaging just from their phones.

Talking about the access issues WhatsApp said: “Unfortunately for now, we will not be able to provide web client to our iOS users due to Apple platform limitations.

“Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone.”
