Man arrested after allegedly stealing iPhone, threatening to kill officers

MADISON, Wis.— A 22-year-old Fitchburg man was arrested after he allegedly stole an iPhone from a man’s pocket and then threatened to kill police officers, according to a release from the Madison Police Department.

The incident happened around 1:24 a.m. Thursday.

The 20-year-old victim told police he was standing at the corner of North Frances Street and Langdon Street, talking on his iPhone 6, when he realized three men were watching him.

The victim said when he was finished with his call, he placed the phone in his pocket. He said one of the three men approached him and placed something to his neck. The victim told police he thought the object was a knife.

The suspect took the victim’s iPhone 6, but MPD officers were in the area and quickly took the suspect into custody.

Authorities said the suspect, Stephon A. Jordan, claimed he was playing a game with the victim and later threatened to kill police officers.

Jordan was arrested for robbery and resisting/obstructing.
