In January this year I wrote about five features the iPhone 6 must have to stay in the game –something that many readers clearly felt very passionate about. Finally, according to the ever-more aligning rumor mill, Apple AAPL +0.04% is set to launch the iPhone 6 on 9th September, which makes sense given its past record of release dates. This means all will be revealed in a month’s time.
So, nearly 8 months on, am I still excited and if so by what new features? Firstly it’s still not clear whether we’ll see both the suspected 4.7in and 5.5in models on launch day but I strongly suspect the larger ‘phablet’ model won’t be available from the outset. It’s likely to be hideously expensive and sales could well suffer as a result.
As anticipation builds in front of the announcement of the new iPhones this fall — yes, that’s multiple phones — new details about the devices are emerging.
As rumored, Apple will release two new phones this fall, one with a 4.7-inch screen and another with a large 5.5-inch screen, a VentureBeat source with knowledge of the plans says. Reports Tuesday said Apple will announce the new phones at an event September 9.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Alpha smartphone, a device that makes limited use of metal and is expected to be the company’s response to the upcoming iPhone 6, has appeared in plenty of leaks so far, which have revealed not only its main specs and features, but also its design. Following a set of Galaxy Alpha images from earlier this week that showed the white version of the handset, a Twitter leaker @culeaks posted hands-on images showing the same handset, including a comparison with the existing iPhone 5s model.
