USBFever iPhone Crystal Case Review

Posted in iPhone News, iPhone product by admin. Published June 28th, 2008

I have always been a fan of hard shell cases. For some reason they just seem to me to offer more protection and durability. Although they do have certain drawbacks, such as open holes for access to buttons, or trackpads. The hard shell case I used for years with my 5G iPod didn’t have this, other than the trackpad hole, which meant taking the unit out of the case every time I wanted to sync or charge it. For the iPhone, hard cases are faced with even further challenges, such as the speaker/mic/dock, volume/hold and sleep buttons being used constantly. The USBFever line of hard cases manages to provide the protection needed without having your case look like swiss cheese.

Even better, your iPhone will still look like an iPhone. There are many cases on the market that provide excellent coverage, and are in their own right attractive, but make your iPhone look like “just another phone, in another case”. I suppose it’s possible that some people don’t care about this, but not me. I really enjoy showing off my iPhone (especially since for at least another month they’re technically not available up here in the Great White North).

Getting back to the functionality, I’m impressed with the fact that they thought to make the Volume & Hold hole wrap slightly around the back, which makes it easier for when you’re on the phone, or for larger fingers. And the case itself is surprisingly easy to snap on/off without worry that it would fall off on it’s own. Honestly, after testing out these cases for review, it will definitely join my regular rotation of cases.

The designs that are on offer hopefully appeal to many people, which range from Bruce Lee to Puppy Dogs. I specifically chose to review the “Lady” designs, because, well, I’m a Lady. Both were attractive and, to my delight, had tiny holes for me to attach my screenwipe (and ninja) dongle. There were also four small holes for what I can assume would be a belt clip attachment, although none was provided with the product itself.

The only drawback is that I would highly suggest using a clear guard film to protect the screen of your iPhone as well. The combination of the two would provide excellent protection and perfect functionality all wrapped up into a very good-looking (and still iPhone-like) package. Overall I was very impressed with this product, and for the very reasonable cost of $16.99 plus shipping, highly recommend picking it up from USBfever.com.
