Information has surfaced regarding the forthcoming sale of the iPhone 3G in Wal-Mart and select Sam’s Club locations beginning on December 28th.
With this development, Wal-Mart becomes the second third-party dealer to be authorized for iPhone 3G sales. The launch will consist of 2,500 Wal-Mart locations and 69 Sam’s Club locations that do not feature RS Solutions kiosks (Radio Shack managed sales kiosks).
The device will also be exclusively sold in-store only and AT&T will be providing additional training and assistance to Wal-Mart on the activations end as well as live demo units before the nationwide launch for certain locations.
What is not known at the moment is if AT&T and Apple will allow Wal-Mart to exercise their discount power as was demonstrated with sales of the T-Mobile G1 by undercutting T-Mobile’s contract price by $38.88 from the $179.99 price given at corporate stores and online.

When the iPhone 3g was announced, I found it enticing, but I was a skeptic and found the initial buy in a bit pricey. As I watch the economy crumble around me, I’ve interviewed some as may iPhone users as would speak to me..( can I call them Disciples?)…They have a unique passion about this gadget and I set out to get to the bottom of it.
The latest version is feature rich and easy to use. The users I have spoken with the mention of price as the most compelling reason for an iPhone 3g . HUH?…..I didn’t beleive it . Read on…….
PRICE
Around the country both techies and the and the technical unwashed (the rest of us) queued up to buy the original iPhone, (at $599 and $699 …. 8GB and 16GB). With the passing time prices dropped, iPhone sales accelerated
Apple’s research revealed that almost half of people they surveyed didn’t buy an iPhone because they suffered from sticker shock. One result of hteir research is the new and improved iPhone 3G has a reduced up front cost…. The 8GB iPhone sell for $199, about one-third the price that the 4GB iPhone sold for at launch a year ago. The 16GB model sells for $299…..
