Chunghwa Telecom Co (中華電信), the nation’s largest telecom services provider by revenue, and Apple Inc plan to jointly launch the third-generation Apple iPhone in Taiwan before the end of the year, the Taiwanese firm said yesterday.
The company “has signed a contract with Apple and will provide third-generation [3G] iPhone services in Taiwan before the end of the year,” Chunghwa Telecom said in a statement.
A Chunghwa Telecom official said Taiwan would be among the third wave of countries to launch the iPhone 3G since Apple first released the device on July 11 in 22 countries.
The company has yet to set service charges for the operation of the iPhone 3G, said the official, who asked not to be named.
Appleinsider received a dealer flyer which apparently shows the 8GB Apple iPhone 3G being dropped in price from the current 149 Euros down to a pleasing 99 Euros when purchased with a service plan.
The dealer flyer doesn’t mention about the 16GB Apple iPhone 3G, but a separate report indicates to the 8GB price cut and the 16GB price falling from 199 Euros down to only 129 Euros which is less that the going rate for some 8GB iPhones in some countries.
The promo is titled “Christmas Origami star” and is from Orange France and will run from the 13th of November 08 until the 14th of January 09.
