QWiPS iPhone app: Adding a voice to social networking

The aim of the QWiPs iPhone app is to add audio to an otherwise fairly silent social network — but will it appeal to general users?

Qwips, formerly known as ‘Blurts’, has released an iPhone application in the hope of adding a new dimension of interactivity to social networking.

On social networking sites like Twitter, Google+ or Facebook, the only audio user-generated content is within embedded video or podcasts. The Qwips app is based on changing this premise, and allowing users to add sound to their online interactions.

iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Hits the Web

The iPhone Dev Team released a jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 on Tuesday that does away with the need to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your computer every time you reboot the mobile device.

Jailbreaking is a process where users hack their iOS device so third party apps that aren’t available through Apple’s App Store can be installed.
