Pre-orders have opened for the iPhone SE, Apple’s most affordable iPhone yet. To buy the 16GB model outright from Apple on March 31 costs £359, while the 64GB version is priced at £439. Here are the best carrier deals currently available.

The lowest price EE is offering the 16GB iPhone SE for is £27.49 monthly on a 24 month plan and an upfront cost of £49.99, but it does mean you’ll end up with just 500MB of data and 500 minutes, though texts are unlimited. Watch Apple’s new robot break down an iPhone for recycling

Apple’s phones have long been criticized for being difficult to repair or customize. They’re apparently so difficult that Apple is now using a robot to disassemble old iPhones to scrap. At a press conference at its Cupertino, California, headquarters yesterday (Mar. 21), Apple unveiled Liam, a robot that it’s using to recover valuable materials from old iPhones.

iPhone with OLED screen planned by Apple

iPhones produced in 2017 will feature organic light-emitting diode (OLED) flexible displays, a significant step forward from the LCD screens the Californian tech giant currently uses in its handsets.

Apple held discussions with suppliers Samsung and LG in December over increasing the production of OLED screens in the run up to next September’s iPhone launch, Nikkei has reported.

OLED screens are typically brighter and use less power than LED displays, as well as being flexible, possibly raising the prospect of a curved screen in the iPhone or a future Apple gadget.
